Stick with me friends… there’s a point to this quick botany lesson.
Daisies are composite flowers, meaning they are actually TWO flowers in one. The rays, or outside petals, are one flower and the disc in the center is another. Cool, huh?
The dual nature of the daisy doesn’t stop there. They are considered by many people to be both weeds and flowers. They thrive not only in manicured gardens, but also grow prolifically in some of the harshest climates in the world.
I love daisies, because they remind me that I am more than what I seem. I am the combination of two distinct parts – both my OCD and who I am at my core. Living with obsessive compulsive disorder for nearly two decades has shaped me, but I have learned not to let it define me. Instead, both my challenges and my strengths make up the whole of who I am – and I am stronger because of it.
Many days are good. Others are a hot mess; but I’m trying to live every daisy with the intention of finding joy.
